Drought Friendly Demonstration Garden This is our first major project that we will focus on. The edges of the front lawn are lined with areas where grass isn't growing. It seems to be an active walking path. We are going to transform it into a walking path with stepping stones that are lined with drought friendly plants and fun interactive signs to learn from. We created the garden on our Big Sunday event. We are constantly observing how our community is interacting with it and adding things as needed. Signs are on their way. The Wildflower Tree Project On the interior of our campus are trees in squares surrounded by asphalt. We will build wooden borders around a few of the boxes, mulch the trees and plant wildflowers within the border. We will include fun signage and magnifying glasses for observations. An Edible Garden Working with the non-profit Cooking with Gabby, the Parent Center, the principal and students, we will create an edible garden that will use the garden with stem activities for science instruction and then utilize the harvest with Chef Steve and learning to cook. |
